National Reconciliation Week member spotlight: Endeavour Energy.

Endeavour Energy is committed to ‘making change’, and moving forward together, towards Reconciliation and making a positive contribution to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities. We operate as an essential services provider in high-growth regions of New South Wales, overlapping the Dharug, Wiradjuri, Dharawal, Gundungurra and Yuin nations.

We recently marked a milestone on our reconciliation journey with the launch of our first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP) in November 2021. While we have started work on this journey, the RAP lays a solid foundation to develop stronger and more respectful relationships, and work with our First Nations communities to make things happen.

Since launching our RAP, we have focused on the following areas:

  • partnering with TAFE NSW to sponsor the Empower Electrical Apprenticeship Readiness program for First Nations peoples to promote entry to Endeavour’s apprentice program;

  • engaging with First Nations employees to understand experiences working at Endeavour;

  • holding Cultural Awareness workshops to build understanding of First Nations cultures and history; and

  • engaging with Traditional Owners and Aboriginal Land Councils within our network area to build understanding and connections.

Building meaningful relationships is key to our reconciliation journey, we are extremely proud to be partnering with the KARI Foundation to support education outcomes, employment pathways to Endeavour, community connections, and volunteering opportunities to make a positive impact for local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities.  The partnership will provide scholarships and mentoring support for high school students in West and South West Sydney, supporting high school completion and post-school opportunities.  Our staff enjoyed volunteering at the KARI annual Unity Day in April 2022 where families learnt about culture whilst enjoying a fun day out.

We are excited to have members of the KARI Foundation join us for a special National Reconciliation Week event at Endeavour discussing reconciliation in action.
