With World Pride arriving in Sydney in February, it’s a timely opportunity to examine the role corporations and government play in achieving equality.

Alex Greenwich MP
Alex Greenwich MP is the Independent Member for Sydney in NSW Parliament. He was first elected in 2012 with the endorsement of his predecessor Lord Mayor Clover Moore. During his time in NSW Parliament, Alex has achieved major social reforms including leading Australia's marriage equality campaign to victory in 2017, decriminalising abortion in 2019, and legislating voluntary assisted dying in 2022.

He is the Chair of the Legislative Assembly's Planning and Environment Committee, he is the co-author of "Yes, Yes, Yes Australia's Journey to Marriage Equality" and was a participant in season 2 of the SBS series "Filthy Rich and Homeless".

Lara Husselbee (She/Her)
Lara Husselbee [She/Her] is an enthusiastic Human-Centred Design leader who is driven by the belief that a little bit of empathy can go a very long way.
She joined the volunteer Wear It Purple team in 2019, when asked to use her experience in Design Thinking and Human-Centred Design to support our key strategic initiatives. 

Stepping into the Wear It Purple President role in 2022, she continues to diversify Wear It Purple's offering with stable internal infrastructure that will allow this volunteer led organisation to champion youth led initiatives all across Australia as it enters it's 14th year. 

Beyond Wear It Purple, Lara passion lies in helping deliver rewarding and empowering cultures for her clients, employees, customers and consumers. She is a sought after public speaker, works for Macquarie Group, teaches rhythm cycle, row surf boats and has volunteered for Surf Life Saving Australia since she was 15.

Nicholas Stewart
Nicholas is a senior partner at Dowson Turco Lawyers, an out loud and proud LGBTQA+ law firm based in Macquarie Street, Sydney. Nicholas is also the Vice President Australian Lawyers for Human Rights, a graduate of the International Bar Association’s Business and Human Rights Program (2018), and a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Committee at the Law Society of New South Wales.

Nicholas holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Bachelor of Laws. In 2009 Nicholas was awarded the Elizabeth Hastings Memorial Human Rights Award and the UTS:LAW Alumni Association Award. In 2018 Nicholas was awarded the UTS Alumni Award for community contribution.

Nicholas is a Friend of Distinction at the University of Technology Sydney and, in 2022, was awarded the Law Society of NSW’s President’s Medal.

Carmen Juarez (She/her)
Carmen is a Senior Associate in MinterEllison's Sydney Public Law Team. She is a co-lead of the LGBTQ+ Women's Network within MinterEllison's pride network - PRIME (Pride, Respect and Inclusion at MinterEllison). The purpose of the network is to provide a safe and respectful space for conversation, feedback and open expression for all MinterEllison staff who are women, non-binary and gender diverse, as well as to better understand the needs of and advocate for queer, non-binary and gender diverse people at MinterEllison.

Carmen has also been a member of MinterEllison's Mardi Gras committee and a keen marcher in every MinterEllison Mardi Gras float to date. She looks forward to marching with MinterEllison again for this year's Sydney World Pride Mardi Gras parade.
